My name is David, and I am an Assistant Professor at the Gies College of Business, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

My research examines corporate strategy and technology strategy, with an emphasis on platform ecosystems. Specifically, I study how platforms’ strategies (e.g., diversification, acquisition) influence complementor activities across platforms and industries.

Empirically, I study the gig economy (e.g., rideshare and food delivery businesses) and leverage multiple datasets including 1.3 billion trips made by taxicabs and rideshare services in New York City or 10 billion transactions made from 28 million credit/debit cards.

Other than research, I like re-watching Friends series, running, and soccer. I am also a big fan of EDM festivals.
